The Tied Up Balloon

During the Second World War a balloon appears over a Bulgarian village. It is a barrage balloon and it comes without warning. The villagers are startled. They decide to bring it down with a fusillade. But the balloon flies off towards the mountains. The villagers arm themselves to the teeth and set off after it. Nor are they the only ones on that undertaking. The film runs comedy, drama and fantasy together. What starts as a chase after an object turns into something else. Grigor Vachkov and Georgi Kaloyanchev take the leads, with Georgi Partsalev, Ivan Bratanov, Konstantin Kisimov and Georgi Georgiev-Getz also in the cast, in Binka Zhelyazkova’s Bulgarian film of 1967.
