What The Traffic Policeman Is About
Otello, unemployed for a long time, finally gets a job through connections and becomes a traffic policeman. The moment he puts the uniform on he discovers he holds a small piece of authority, but the traffic of a large city, and more importantly the identity of the people he books, keep landing him in trouble. Things come apart properly on the day he stops the mayor’s car. Luigi Zampa’s film is a classic piece of commedia all’italiana, with class and favouritism sitting under every laugh. Alberto Sordi leads, with Vittorio De Sica in the cast.
