The Ultimate Wave Tahiti

The documentary was filmed in Tahiti. Its subject is waves and surfing. The camera moves among the islands of French Polynesia. At the centre is the surf break called Teahupoo. The waves there break over a coral reef. Kelly Slater is the name at the front of the film. He has been world champion ten times. The Tahitian surfer Raimana Van Bastolaer is with him. The two of them go looking for waves with friends. But the film does more than film the surfing. It explains how a wave is made, using animation and the help of ocean research bodies. It argues that the ocean reaches people who live far from any shore. The forty five minute documentary was shot for the giant screen, an American production Stephen Low finished in 2010.
