What The Vengeful Beauty Is About

Rong Qui-yan, trained in the martial arts, is leading an ordinary life after her marriage. Everything changes when her husband is killed by a squad working for the government; the man leading it is two faced and dangerous. She has to go into hiding while laying her plans for revenge, and along the way a fugitive like herself and a former lover become her allies. The film counts as an indirect continuation of the flying guillotine series made by Shaw Brothers and gives its fights in a hard tone close to exploitation cinema. That the account puts a woman at its centre was notable for its period. Chen Ping plays the lead in Ho Meng-Hua’s eighty two minute Hong Kong film, completed in 1978.
