The Voice of Sin

The journalist Eiji Akutsu is after an unsolved case from thirty years ago: a group of people sent tapes to companies threatening them in order to extort money. While looking into it, Akutsu comes upon a strange cassette. At the same time Toshiya Sone, who runs a tailor’s shop in Kyoto, finds a cassette among the belongings of his late father; when he plays it he hears his own voice from childhood. The paths of the two men cross, each starting from a different end of the same case. Rather than finding who committed the crime, the film looks at the later lives of the children who were drawn into it without wanting to be. It was adapted from a novel. Shun Oguri and Gen Hoshino appear in Nobuhiro Doi’s hundred and forty two minute Japanese film.
