The Vulture

The money of Simon, a taxi driver, is stolen by two old women working as pickpockets. When the police cannot find the thieves, Simon takes the matter into his own hands and starts tracking them; the further he goes, the more what he is after stops being the money and turns into a kind of obsession. Every lead he finds takes him to another corner of the city and another petty crime, and the man begins spending his own life inside the pursuit. Ferenc András’s hundred and fifteen minute Hungarian film shows the Budapest of the 1980s from inside a crime story. György Cserhalmi plays Simon, with Hédi Temessy, Zita Perczel and Ferenc Bács in the cast. It was completed in 1982 and is about the disproportion between a small crime and a large pursuit.
