What The Warrior Is About
1375: the Mongol Yuan are losing China to the Ming, and the Korean kingdom of Goryeo sends a delegation to the new rulers. The delegation is accused of spying and exiled into the desert; on the way back they come across a Ming princess taken by Yuan soldiers and decide to free her. That decision ends any chance of them getting home. Running over two and a half hours and set in the Gobi, the film stages crowded, merciless battles in which nobody's survival is assured. Jung Woo-sung plays a silent slave, Ahn Sung-ki a tired commander, and Zhang Ziyi the princess.
