The Waterdance

Joel Garcia is a writer. He falls while hiking, breaks his neck and loses the use of his body below the waist. He has two room-mates at the rehabilitation centre: Raymond, half of whose stories about women are invented, and Bloss, a racist biker. All three are learning the same thing and none of them can stand the others. Joel also has Anna, a married woman who will not leave him and does not know how to stay either. The title comes from a dream Joel describes. Neal Jimenez and Michael Steinberg direct; a hundred and six minutes. Jimenez wrote it, largely out of his own life: he was paralysed in an accident in 1984. Eric Stoltz plays Joel, Helen Hunt plays Anna and Wesley Snipes plays Raymond.
