On the morning of the wedding the groom has disappeared. While his two closest friends look for him and try to steady him, the three of them go back to their youth: the eighties in Inglewood, a middle-class Black neighbourhood of Los Angeles. First loves, first fights, school, a tape deck. Rick Famuyiwa's first film, a hundred and six minutes. This is worth saying: most American films about young Black people in that period were about crime and violence, and this one is only about growing up, which puts it somewhere of its own.
