Matt Green What The World Before Your Feet Is About
For more than six years Matt Green has been walking every street in New York, a job of over thirteen thousand kilometres that is not a trip but a task he set himself. Having given up his rented flat and his steady work, he spends his days pacing out one neighbourhood after another, and as he walks he accumulates the city’s unremarked details, its signs, its cemeteries, its barber shops and the people he meets. Jeremy Workman’s ninety five minute documentary follows this strange undertaking both as a story of endurance and as a portrait of New York from street level. The film argues that a city can only be seen if you move through it slowly.
