What There and Back Is About
The film is set in the middle of the sixties. At its centre is a respected surgeon. The man’s wife and daughter live in England. He dreams of getting out of Poland to see them. But getting out takes money. With what he has he cannot find it. Then a bank robbery comes his way. He is left having to consider taking part in it. The account is built on that moral dilemma. The tension between loyalty and freedom is the film’s subject. The political pressure of the period is inside the account too. Janusz Gajos and Jan Frycz take the leads, with Mirosław Baka, Olaf Lubaszenko and Edyta Olszówka also in the cast, in Wojciech Wójcik’s Polish film of 2002.
