Those Who Feel the Fire Burning

A group of refugees is trying to reach Europe by boat. A storm comes up during the crossing. The boat is thrown into chaos and an old man goes overboard. From that moment the film’s point of view changes. The man’s perception shifts somewhere else. He begins to look from a dark and hallucinatory place. He searches for those he loves and cannot find them. His soul wanders among people stranded at the border. He sees people being chased through the streets. He follows someone working without papers. He comes upon a mother who is an addict. He goes inside crowded shelters. This is how the face of Europe taken for paradise appears. The seventy four minute documentary was directed by Morgan Knibbe. It is a Greek, Italian and Dutch co-production finished in 2014.
