What Three Quarter Moon Is About
A six year old Turkish girl is left in the taxi of Hartmut Mackowiak, a cantankerous German driver. She is looking for her mother; he has just taken his own life apart and is in no condition to deal with anyone. The two of them have to understand each other without a shared language. Christian Zubert's 2011 film treats the Turkish presence in Germany not as a problem to be discussed but as an ordinary fact. Elmar Wepper plays the driver. It works through loneliness by way of the bond between an old man and a child, and keeps clear of easy sentiment.
