What Three Robbers and a Lion Is About
Three robbers called Kasper, Jesper and Jonathan live at the edge of Cardamom Town with a lion that is permanently hungry. At night they go down into town to steal something, and it almost never goes the way they planned. The town is kept by a policeman who is fair and gentle, and by the extremely strict Aunt Sofie. The three are finally caught and put in the town jail, but a fire breaks out and gives them a chance to show they are more than robbers. Rasmus A. Sivertsen’s animation comes from Thorbjørn Egner’s children’s book, read by generations in Norway, and carries its songs across as well. The story runs on repair rather than punishment: the town takes the robbers in instead of shutting them out.
