What … tick… tick… tick… Is About
Jim Price is elected the first Black sheriff of Colusa County, a rural stretch of Mississippi. On his first day nobody helps him: the outgoing sheriff accepts that he lost the election fairly but does nothing, and the elderly mayor advises him to consult the town before asking for any help from outside. The county also has its own chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. Ralph Nelson's 1970 film sets all this up without preaching. Some of the white residents simply do not acknowledge the new sheriff, others refuse him outright, while the Black residents expect more from him than one man can carry. An ordinary arrest turns into the fuse that could blow the town apart. Jim Brown, George Kennedy and Fredric March take the leads.
