The account treats the war not as a finished event but as the beginning of a suffering that continued through the Franco years, and takes its voices from both sides. Frédéric Rossif’s eighty five minute French documentary was narrated by John Gielgud, Irene Worth and Suzanne Flon. It was completed in 1963, was nominated for the Academy Award for best documentary and won the Prix Jean Vigo that year.
