Touched by Love

Karen is a girl of fifteen. She lives with cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. She is staying in a care home. She opens up to nobody and has lost hope. A new carer arrives there. The woman tries a different way with her. Karen’s favourite singer is Elvis Presley. The carer suggests she write to him. Karen writes the letter and sends it. After a while an answer comes. The correspondence continues and the girl’s days change. She begins to talk, to laugh and to want things. The film was adapted from a true story. Its source is the book the carer wrote years later. Diane Lane, Deborah Raffin and Michael Learned appear in the ninety five minute film, an American production Gus Trikonis finished in 1980.
