What Tunisian Victory Is About
The documentary tells the Allied campaign in North Africa and the outcome won in Tunisia; the camera units of the British and American armies worked on it together. It uses footage actually shot at the front, captured German material and newsreels. But when part of what had been filmed was lost in transit, the missing passages were staged and shot again in America, in the Mojave Desert and in Florida; the film does not tell the viewer this, and for that it was sharply criticised afterwards. The seventy five minute production, made by a team that included Frank Capra and John Huston, was completed in 1944.
