Turn It Around: The Story of East Bay Punk

The documentary covers the punk history of the California Bay Area. It spans more than thirty years. At its centre is 924 Gilman Street. That place in Berkeley was run as a collective. The people who opened it were musicians, writers and organisers. They built a way of doing everything themselves. Putting on shows and pressing records were both part of it. The film moves through the voices of the people who were there. Bands and writers of the period speak throughout. Groups who came out of that room are followed into what happened next. Iggy Pop narrates. Green Day are among the producers of the film. It runs long, well past two and a half hours. What it covers is not just a handful of nights either. Iggy Pop and Kathleen Hanna appear in the hundred and fifty seven minute documentary, an American production Corbett Redford finished in 2017.
