What Two & Two Is About
Babak Anvari's 2011 short is set in a grey school under a strict authoritarian regime. The morning starts like any other. Then the administration makes an announcement: something taught until now as fact is no longer true. The pupils, all in identical uniforms, laugh at it first and find it absurd. When someone objects, what was laughable turns serious very fast, and the boys have to measure how far they are prepared to go to defend what they believe. Eight minutes of allegory, fitting the absurdity of dictatorship and the cost of resisting it into a single classroom.
