Ukrainian Sheriffs

The documentary was filmed in a village in southern Ukraine. There is no official police station in the village. Two local men have taken the job on. Viktor and Volodymyr deal with the daily incidents. They drive about in a yellow Lada. A small flag hangs on the car. They calm quarrels between neighbours. They look into reports of theft. When a body is found they go out to it as well. The trouble in the village is largely tied to poverty. Unemployment and drink are common matters. The seasons pass. Then the political events in the country reach the village. The news on television divides the people there. Viktor Kryvoborodko and Volodymyr Rudkovskyy appear in the eighty five minute documentary. It is a German, Ukrainian and Latvian production Roman Bondarchuk finished in 2016.
