#UNFIT: The Psychology of Donald Trump

The documentary puts a group of psychiatrists, psychologists and physicians in front of a camera. What they discuss is Donald Trump's behaviour and what it signifies. The clinicians in the film work through narcissism, lack of empathy and sociopathy, and conclude that he is not fit to hold the office. Political figures appear as well, among them the former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci and the lawyer George Conway. Dan Partland directs; eighty-three minutes. The method the film rests on is contested. The American Psychiatric Association's Goldwater Rule holds that it is unethical for a clinician to offer a professional diagnosis of a public figure they have not examined. The clinicians in the film reject this and argue that a duty to warn outweighs it. That argument has been running in American psychiatry since 2017 and is not settled.
