Unmasking Jihadi John: Anatomy of a Terrorist

The documentary traces one man. His name was Mohammed Emwazi. He grew up in London. His childhood was an ordinary one. His schoolteachers give their accounts. He later joined ISIS. In Syria he appeared in the videos in which hostages were killed. His face was covered, so the press gave him a nickname. The film asks what brought him to that point. The authorities knew about his extremism. The road stayed open to him even so. Hostages who survived speak in the film, along with the families of those who were killed, and the account takes in how the American and British services worked together to track him. Anthony Wonke made the ninety minute documentary, a British and American production finished in 2019.
