Untamed Romania

The nature of Romania is followed for a year, season by season. The forests of the Carpathian Mountains, the wetlands of the Danube Delta and the meadows of Transylvania are the film's three main stops. Bears, wolves, lynx, pelicans and migrating birds; the long silence of winter and the life that opens all at once in spring. Directed by Thomas Barton-Humphreys, the documentary shows that one of Europe's largest untouched forest areas is still standing today. The film exists in two separate versions: Mark Strong narrates the English one and Victor Rebengiuc the Romanian one, and neither is a dub of the other, their scripts differing as well. The images sit close to the British nature documentary tradition: patient, long and unintrusive.
