What Upside Down: The Creation Records Story Is About
The documentary tells the story of Creation Records, the label Alan McGee founded. What began with putting the Jesus and Mary Chain on the stage of a small London club turned within twenty years into a company that brought Oasis before hundreds of thousands at Knebworth. Along the way came the edge of bankruptcy, partners at each other’s throats, and drugs and burnout as part of the same story. The account gives the sales and the cost in the same breath, and nobody tries to clear their own name. Alongside McGee, Bobby Gillespie and Noel Gallagher speak in Danny O’Connor’s hundred and one minute British documentary; it was completed in 2010, ten years after the label folded.
