What Urusei Yatsura: Remember My Love Is About
The third cinema film in the Urusei Yatsura series. Ataru is turned into a pink hippopotamus at a circus, and Lum sets off after the mysterious magician responsible. As the chase grows the town of Tomobiki itself comes apart, and once Lum is gone her friends have no reason to stay, so the town slowly turns ordinary. The most remembered passage is a high speed pursuit across the night city that ends in a hall of mirrors. The narrative keeps the loud comedy of the series going while showing what Ataru actually feels about Lum more plainly than any of the other films. Kazuo Yamazaki directed, in a characteristic piece of 1980s anime style.
