What Valley of Peace Is About
When aircraft bomb a Slovene town, a Slovene boy and a German girl set off towards a valley where they have been told there is no war. On the way a Black American pilot who bailed out of a downed aircraft joins them. The boy’s parents were killed by bombs from American planes, and he takes the pilot in gladly all the same. The three of them understand each other in German, and the valley of peace looks like the last place of refuge. The Slovene boy, the German girl and the American pilot make a symbolic triangle in the middle of the war. John Kitzmiller plays the pilot in France Stiglic’s eighty two minute film, completed in 1956.
