Villeneuve Pironi

The documentary takes up two racing drivers. One is the Canadian Gilles Villeneuve. The other is the Frenchman Didier Pironi. The two of them raced for the same team. The team was Ferrari. There was an unwritten agreement between them. It concerned how they would behave in a race. That agreement was broken at the San Marino Grand Prix. What happened on the last lap was argued over for years. After it the two men never made things up. What followed was heavy as well. The film sets out what happened on that lap. Members of both families speak in it. Drivers of the period have their say too. Jacques Villeneuve and Alain Prost appear in the ninety five minute documentary. Torquil Jones’s Italian and British coproduction was finished in 2022.
