What Violent Naples Is About

Inspector Betti is transferred to Naples. The moment he arrives he gets a welcome from the local crime boss known as the Commandante. Betti does not step back. He starts working his own way: surveillance, raids, interrogations, and going outside the rules when he judges it necessary. The city is full of snatch thefts, protection money and carjackings, and there are men inside the force who are not clean either. Betti decides to drive the syndicate out. Umberto Lenzi directs, with Maurizio Merli as Betti and Barry Sullivan as the Commandante, and John Saxon also in the cast. It belongs to the Italian crime wave of the seventies: hard, fast, and prepared to leave a question over its own hero's methods.
