Voice Without a Shadow

Asako used to work as a telephone operator. One day she heard the voice of a murder suspect on the line. That voice never left her. Years pass and Asako marries. One evening her husband invites his boss to dinner. The man who comes is called Hamazaki. Asako freezes when she hears him speak. The voice sounds like the one she heard years earlier. She wants to look into it. Before she gets the chance, Hamazaki is found dead. Suspicion now gathers on her husband. Asako has to defend both him and her own memory. There is no way to prove what she heard. The distance between a voice and the truth is the matter of the film. The story moves along as a mystery. Yōko Minamida and Hideaki Nitani appear in the ninety two minute film, a Japanese production Seijun Suzuki finished in 1958.
