What War and Peace, Part II: Natasha Rostova Is About
As 1809 closes, Natasha attends her first ball, Andrei Bolkonsky falls in love with her and wants to marry, and his father imposes a year's delay. Andrei goes abroad, Natasha's longing becomes unbearable, and Anatole Kuragin appears at exactly that moment. She pulls back from eloping at the last minute, but the engagement is finished. This is the second part of Sergei Bondarchuk's four film adaptation, made between 1961 and 1967 with the army supplying more than ten thousand soldiers as extras. The series won the foreign language Oscar.
