Raffaele Vannoli What We All Fall Down Is About
Walter, in his twenties, keeps abandoning and resuming a philosophy degree, has no job and has moved back in with his parents. He has taken civil service instead of the army, and that is how the days pass: nothing happens and he cannot decide anything. Davide Ferrario shows nineties Turin and that generation's particular exhaustion without dramatising any of it. This is the film that introduced Valerio Mastandrea to Italian cinema. The title comes from the last line of a children's rhyme, and while it is classified as comedy it runs on recognition rather than laughter.
