We Never Die!

In Hungary in the sixties, the life of an inward looking teenager is turned upside down within a few days. The cause is the time he spends with his uncle, who makes his living selling coat hangers. The uncle is a roguish charmer with a taste for life, for horse racing and for women. Beside him the boy takes his own lesson in how the world works. The film builds this as a story of growing up, but does not make an exemplary man of the teacher. Daily life in the small towns of Hungary in that period makes up the ground. Comedy and sadness stand side by side inside the same scenes. Róbert Koltai both directs and acts. The eighty six minute Hungarian film was completed in 1993.
