When Brendan Met Trudy

Brendan is an earnest, inward schoolteacher. Apart from the local choir he has one passion in his life: the movies. Then he meets Trudy. Trudy is outgoing and more adventurous than he could have imagined. Through the relationship the man turns into somebody else entirely. Her world is carefree and, now and then, dangerous. The film works his passion for cinema into the account as a joke it keeps making. How much of himself a person gives up on entering someone else’s life sits at the centre of the story. The ninety five minutes are spread over several months. Peter McDonald and Flora Montgomery appear in Kieron J. Walsh’s film, a joint Irish and British production, completed in 2000.
