Who Killed the Montreal Expos?

Jean-François Poisson's documentary investigates how the Montreal Expos were lost. Canada's first Major League Baseball team moved to Washington after thirty-six years and the city never had another. The argument is that there was no single culprit. A season cut short by a strike, the state of the stadium, management decisions and league politics are taken in turn, and at each stage another party's share is shown. Pedro Martínez, Vladimir Guerrero, Larry Walker and Felipe Alou are among those who speak. The narrative also records the memory of the supporters; the documentary is about a city's loss as much as a sporting history. Who it's for: those who like baseball history and documentary on the economics of sport. Who it's not for: viewers who do not know the rules of baseball; the narrative does not explain the basics.
