Who Was That Lady?

A young chemistry professor, caught by his wife kissing another woman, comes up with an enormous lie: he is actually working undercover for the FBI. To keep the story going he gets help from a friend who writes for television. The two of them invent fake identities, fake assignments and a fake enemy. The wife believes it. Then real agents get involved. George Sidney's comedy was adapted by Norman Krasna from his own play. Tony Curtis plays the professor, Dean Martin his friend and Janet Leigh his wife; Curtis and Leigh were married at the time. The film makes fun of the Cold War paranoia of 1960. It closes with a long misunderstanding in the sub-basements of the Empire State Building.
