In occupied Antwerp in 1942, young Wilfried and his friend Lode start work as auxiliary policemen. On paper the job is ordinary: patrols, reports, missing persons. In practice they work under German supervision and are asked to take part in rounding up Jews. They pass information to the resistance while carrying out their duties, and every day they are caught a little further in the middle. Tim Mielants adapted Jeroen Olyslaegers's novel. The hardest thing about it is presenting collaboration not as a decision but as the sum of small choices deferred. Stef Aerts leads. It opened in Belgium in September 2023 and later went to Netflix. Who it is for: viewers who like war drama about occupied Europe and moral grey areas. Who it is not for: anyone wanting a clear hero, since the film clears nobody.
