What Wonderful Town Is About
Na runs a small hotel in the south of Thailand and every day resembles the last, until Ta arrives. Ta is an architect sent from the city to oversee the construction of a new development. A friendship forms between them very slowly, and just as slowly turns into something else. Aditya Assarat's first film is set in a seaside town struck by the 2004 tsunami; the destruction is never narrated, only felt in the silence that has settled over the place. As the romance moves forward the town's own grief keeps surfacing. It screened at Busan and marked out a new generation of Thai cinema.
