Yanco

A small boy has an extraordinary gift for music. He is also very sensitive to sound; the noise of the town is too much for him. That is what drives him into the woods. There he meets an old man living alone. The man teaches him to play a violin he made himself. When the old man dies the violin ends up at a pawnshop. Every night the boy slips in and plays it. The music heard at night unsettles the town. People begin to think an evil spirit is loose. The film keeps close to the boy and to what he hears. Ricardo Ancona takes the lead in Servando González’s Mexican film of 1961.
