You Are God

You Are God (original title Jesteś Bogiem), directed by Leszek Dawid and written by Maciej Pisuk, is a biographical drama based on the real story of Polish hip-hop group Paktofonika. The group's album Kinematografia was released on December 18, 2000; eight days later, on December 26, 2000, member Piotr Łuszcz ("Magik") died by suicide at age 22, jumping from the ninth floor of his apartment building in Katowice. The film won seven awards at the Gdynia Film Festival, including Best Directorial Debut and Best Acting Debut (Marcin Kowalczyk). At the 2013 Orły (Polish Film Awards), it won Best Editing and the Audience Award, with eight further nominations.
