You've Been Trumped

On the coast of Aberdeenshire, at Balmedie, there are dunes, one of Scotland's protected natural areas. Donald Trump wants two golf courses and a four-hundred-and-fifty-room hotel there. The project is approved. A few families living among the dunes refuse to sell. Then the water is cut off, fences go up, earth is banked against the houses. Michael Forbes and his neighbours hold out. The film-maker keeps his camera running, and at a certain point the police get involved. Anthony Baxter directs; ninety-five minutes. He and his producer Richard Phinney were taken into custody while filming in 2010; the charges were later dropped and the police made a partial apology. Baxter said the complaint came from the Trump organisation. The Trump side rejected the film and its claims.
