What Zero Kelvin Is About

In 1920s Oslo, Larsen wants to be a poet. He leaves his girlfriend and goes to East Greenland for a year at a trapping station. He will be sharing it with two men: Randbæk, a hard, coarse old trapper who tests him at every turn, and Holm, a quiet scientist. When winter closes in, the three of them are shut into a tiny hut. What starts between Larsen and Randbæk looks like hatred but is more tangled than that; the two are more alike than either wants to admit. Outside is ice, and inside is colder. Hans Petter Moland directs, adapting Peter Tutein's 1931 novel, with Stellan Skarsgård as Randbæk and Gard B. Eidsvold as Larsen. It was named best film at Norway's Amanda awards in 1996.
