Julie Christie

19 films

The British Film Institute archive names Julie Christie twice, and neither mention is about her acting; both are about what her name is for. Simon Louvish writes that the makers of The Miracle Maker used the voices of known actors, Ralph Fiennes, Christie, William Hurt and Miranda Richardson among them, to lend weight to their figures, and he holds it against them: ordinary, unknown voices would have suited the film better. Philip Strick, describing the giant computer of another film, recalls the machine that did the same thing to Christie once, in Demon Seed of 1977. On the awards side, Film Independent's record shows her winning lead female at the 1998 ceremony for Afterglow.
