A Kind of America

Tamás shoots videos and commercials in Budapest; what he actually wants is to make his own film. The script is ready and there is no money. Then a call comes from America: a Hollywood producer named Alex likes the script and wants to invest. Tamás and his two brothers start getting ready, borrowing money, hiring a crew, telling everyone. The trouble is that the American producer is nothing like what he appears to be, and the three brothers work this out far too late. Gábor Herendi directs the Hungarian comedy; a hundred and fifteen minutes, with Tibor Szervét, Csaba Pindroch and Eszter Ónodi in the cast. It is Herendi's first feature and was the most watched domestic film in Hungary in 2002. Its joke rests on how Hungary looked at America after the nineties.
