What A Place in the Sun Is About
In the winter of 2018 the gilets jaunes occupied junctions and roundabouts across France. François Ruffin and Gilles Perret got into an old car and drove out to talk to them one at a time: why they came out, what they earn, how they get to the end of the month. While the news carried footage of violence and damage, the film looks at something else: conversations in kitchens, in makeshift huts and outside them. It was made on very little money with a tiny crew and moves like a road film. It is openly on the side of the movement, makes no claim to represent the opposing case, and does not pretend otherwise.
