Stanisława Wysocka What A Strong Man Is About
Bielecki is determined to become a famous writer, and the means he chooses for it are anything but honest. He talks down the new book his friend Jerzy Gorski has written and drives him into despair; then he does more than let his death happen, he helps it along. With his friend out of the way he publishes the book under his own name and has a great success. But his past does not leave him alone. The film builds the price of success not as a story of conscience but plainly as a story of crime. Long counted as lost, the silent production was found again later; Henryk Szaro’s seventy seven minute Polish film was completed in 1929.
