What Against All Flags Is About
1700. Brian Hawke, a British officer, is sent to infiltrate the pirate settlement on the coast of Madagascar and falls in love with the pirate captain known as Spitfire Stevens, while dealing with the considerably less charming Roc Brasiliano. This is a swashbuckler from the late stretch of Errol Flynn's career, resting less on plot than on choreography and on what the three leads throw at one another. Maureen O'Hara plays the captain and Anthony Quinn plays Brasiliano. It was remade in 1967 as The King's Pirate.
