What Agatha and the Storm Is About
Agata is middle-aged, runs her own bookshop, and has one odd thing about her: when whatever is inside her rises, the electricity around her goes wrong. Bulbs blow, traffic lights lose their minds, toasters and computers spark on their own. Then a secret her family has kept for years comes out, and her life goes off in an altogether different direction. There is love in among it too. Silvio Soldini directs, with Licia Maglietta and Giuseppe Battiston. The fantastical and the everyday sit inside the same sentence and nobody in the film finds that strange. It is in the register Soldini likes: light, untidy and well meant.
