What Air: The Motion Picture Is About
Yukito is a travelling puppeteer moving from town to town. In a small coastal town he meets a girl named Misuzu. She is always looking at the sky and carries a strange sadness. What happened to a winged girl centuries ago is being repeated in this town, in another body. Osamu Dezaki's anime is adapted from Key's visual novel. Dezaki uses the manner he is known for: frozen drawn frames, hard light, wide sky. It takes a different road from the television series made from the same source and stands shorter and more abstract. The telling avoids explanation; feeling comes ahead of information.
