What All In: The Poker Movie Is About

The documentary looks into why poker suddenly became popular again in America. Its subject is the long history of the game in the country, the crowd brought in by television and the internet, the growth of tournaments and the arguments about regulation that followed. The film takes poker not only as gambling but also as an American dream told through the claim that everyone sits down at the table on the same terms. Players, journalists and people who follow the subject speak. The account takes in the losing side of the game as well: not everyone who sits down at the table wins, and what a loss costs is not only money. That is why the documentary does not read like a promotional film. Douglas Tirola’s hundred minute American documentary was completed in 2009.
